GEDA's "LiftUpLog"
GEDA is dependent on the work of friends "back home" who are
faithfully lifting up
the needs and concerns of the staff, leadership and children in GEDA's care.
This page is to provide you with up-to-date information and to encourage those who are working alongside us from afar. We appreciate your love and concern for GEDA staff and those whom we serve, and consider it an extreme privilege to serve in the field with you.

Children
LT Center of Hope
The summer season is HOT and humid, which makes getting along with each other tougher than normal. The kids love having activities and visitors to keep them occupied during the summer vacation.
TG
Thirty-five of the fifty supported children will be selected for entrance into the new Center of Hope.
They will have just two weeks to adjust to life in the Center before the new school year starts on September 5th.
We will have four local staff members taking care of them, who will need training and encouragement in their
new responsibilities at the Center.
Projects
Child Sponsorship Project
The positive effects of this program were notable during our re-evaluation of each home in early-July.
Most of the children were doing much better in school with our simple monthly visits and assistance.
However, it is clear that some of the children will need other forms of support,
such as focused tutoring at home, or placement in other assistance programs through their local schools.
We will need creativity and resources to implement such programs in these special cases.
TG Center of Hope
Phase one of the construction is over, with the roof being completed in mid-July. Our main challenge will be finishing the interior before the scheduled grand opening on August 25th. Please remember the safety of the workers involved with this project.
LT Center of Hope
It has been interesting to discover what the children long and hope for in the future.
Having had many visitors from Korea, most of the children dream of traveling to Korea.
Having met a number of doctors and teachers, quite of number of the children aspire to become doctors or teachers.
We hope to broaden the perspectives of the children to include many more trades and professions by introducing them
to caring friends who will take the time to talk with the children and explain what kind of work they do back home.
Perhaps the people who most need to come visit the Center of Hope are those who think their work is not relevant!
To all who have been remembering these things, we express our deep gratitude. May the fruit of your labor be multiplied many times.
